Alcohol and Drug Evaluations also called a Substance Abuse Evaluation (SAE) are an in-depth look into the scale of one's use of mood-altering substances for the purpose of making a diagnosis and recommendations for treatment (if needed). These evaluations look into the type of substance, the dosage, and the frequency with which it is being used to paint a picture of the person's use history. One of the most important recommendations I can give is be completely honest in the SAE. This will aid the Clinician in making the appropriate recommendations. If you are not forthcoming and the Attorney or Supervision Officer calls because the report is incorrect
other recommendations may be made. The SAE is not to get you into additional trouble but to offer assistance if needed.
Your SAE will be completed by a Licensed Clinician. Appointments are scheduled in the evening and weekends. At the current time we are only offering the SAE’s online via Zoom teleconference. While participating in the Zoom teleconference, you will need to be in a private area where others cannot hear the conversation. The experience will be like being in the office with the Clinician. We will not complete an SAE via phone call only. This is not HIPPA compliant, and we have no way to verify your identity.
The court may order you to complete this assessment based on your charge. You may not understand why you are being referred to complete the assessment if your charge was not for
an alcohol or drug related arrest. The assessor will help you understand at the time of your appointment.
A1 Texas Education Services does not provide Substance Abuse Treatment. We work with many providers in the area and can refer you to organizations should it be determined
you need a level of treatment. We provide Individual Counseling and Court Ordered Classes.
